The style of this fabulous O-Gauge Layout is known as “Hi-Rail” and is a blend of scale and toy. The term arises from the use of scale modeling for most of the Layout yet the track is conventional ‘toy train’ track which sites ‘higher’ than scale track – hence the term ‘Hi-Rail’. You may also notice the builder taking ‘artistic license’ with the use of several toy train accessories in the Layout’s construction.

The Layout depicts the milling and industrial district of the Twin Cities as well as several well-known landmarks of both Minneapolis and St. Paul.

This Layout was constructed in New York by professional layout-builder Dunham Studios for, and donated to the museum by, the Michael Corrigan family of Santa Barbara, CA (though Michael was born and raised in the Twin City area).
