Host Your Birthday Party at the Train Museum!

We are excited to announce birthday parties at our museum! This has been a much requested addition and we are happy to now have the space to do it!

Twin City Model Railroad Museum Birthday Party Costs & Policies

What’s Included?

The cost of a Museum-hosted party is $250 and includes:

– A private, decorated party room for a two-hour time block. The room includes a toy

train that circles the ceiling of the room.

– Tablecloth and place settings for fifteen, including plates, forks, cups, and napkins.

– Additional Party Guests (incl. favor, place setting, and wristband) are $10

– Fifteen wristbands that provide access to the museum for anyone two years of age and above.

Additional wristbands for those two and over (without party favor and place setting) are

available for $5 per person. Guests with wristbands are welcome to explore the museum any

time during the Museum’s open hours.

– A cold/hot water dispenser and cups.

– Access to the Museum break room with sink, refrigerator, and microwave.

– Open play and meeting area with multiple wooden toy train tables.

Add-ons:

– Optional custom birthday cake specially ordered from the bakeries at Lund’s & Byerly’s (for actual cost). The sheetcake serves around 20, and comes in chocolate, marble, or vanilla with either chocolate or vanilla buttercream frosting. Cakes have a simple, colorful candle motif with a custom inscription of your choice. The bakers have been good to incorporate some of the birthday celebrant’s favorite colors in the candle design. The Museum does not provide candles or matches but guests are welcome to provide their own. Cake decisions and orders need to be placed with the bakery one week prior to the event.

Helpful Tips

The Museum hosts birthday parties during its open hours in the following time slots:

Friday: 10 am – 12 pm and 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Saturday: 10 am – 12 pm, 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm, and 3 pm – 5 pm

Sunday: Noon – 2 pm and 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Monday: 10 am – 12 pm and 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Guests are free to bring in additional food, non-alcoholic beverages, and party decorations. To ease the burden on our volunteer members, we do request that guests please clean up the area as best they can prior to the end of their time period as the Museum does host multiple parties in that space. Garbage cans are provided for waste.

Birthday Parties on Saturdays during Night Trains Events are welcome to attend the Night Trains. Parties during the 12:30 – 2:30 time frame need to understand that the Museum will close from 2 – 3pm (to change over to Night Trains) and need to plan their visit to the Museum before and/or after that period.

While we don’t have ratio requirements, the museum is self-guided and the party does not include additional adult oversight. We highly encourage a 1:3 adult to child ratio for children under the age of 5.

The Museum does have more than one birthday party room so, while you will have a private room to yourself, your group may be sharing the common areas (hallway and breakroom) with another party that is occurring at the same time as yours.
