The Transfer Road facility is handicap accessible, restrooms are also provided.
Parking is FREE and provides ample space for cars and buses.
The museum is conveniently located between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul.
From Interstate 94, take the Cretin/Vandalia exit and go north on Cretin/Vandalia 3 blocks. Turn right (east) onto University Avenue and go 1 block. Turn left (north) on Transfer Road.
The museum entrance is just after the railroad tracks on your right. (east side of Transfer Road).
Take the Bus!
Our museum is easily reached by taking Metro Transit Bus 16 to the University Avenue and Transfer Road stop.

Monday: 10am – 3pm
Friday: 10am – 3pm
Saturday: 10am – 2pm (Regular Operations) and 3-7 for Night Trains™ (October-February)
10am – 5pm (March to October)
Sunday: 12pm – 5pm
Note: We are closed on Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Admission
Daytime Admission:
Adults $10 (5 years and older)
Children 4 and under are FREE!
Group rates (8 or more people in one transaction): $8 per person.
Night Trains Admission:
$15 per guest, children 4 and under are FREE!
No group rate during Night Trains.

Families and Groups

New group rate effective March 1, 2024:
Groups of 10 or more paid admissions (persons age 5 and above) in a single transaction will be $8 per person. This is a great opportunity to bring your group at a discounted rate! (Note: Group rate does not apply to Night Trains)
For groups of children under 5:
Organized groups of children less than 5 years old. This policy supersedes the regular admission policy since children under 5 are normally free when accompanied by parents or guardians. This policy allows the museum to accommodate organized groups of children during regular daytime hours.
